The Year of Twin Tornadoes
2014’s chase days were few and far between. Many would classify 2014 as the year of “Twin Tornadoes” including the jaw dropping Pilger, NE Wedge twins from 6/16/14. The slow severe weather season created a frenzy among chasers, as each event resulted in a plethora of photos.
4/28/14 resulted in 121 tornado reports across “Dixie Alley” as storms pummeled Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia.
Hurricane Arthur skirted the East Coast at the beginning of July. Rainfall and storm surge were key players with this tropical system. Hurricane Arthur was the earliest known hurricane to make landfall in the U.S. state of North Carolina. Arthur made landfall at 03:15 UTC over North Carolina’s Shackleford Banks as a Category 2 Hurricane.
